Open Door Policy

Your first line of communications, in personal and community concerns, is with your Administrator, Melody Morse, R.N., BScN, O.H.N., E.P.C. (Elder Planning Counselor).
She takes personal interest in each and every one of our Residents on a one-on-one basis, getting to know them, staying on top of things.
Melody is available in her “Mini Health Centre” on the 1st Floor, or to come to your apartment to address your health needs and concerns. She is on hand to confidentially discuss, and assist you, with medications, personal health concerns, wellness issues, health education and information, as well as any other health and personal, social, psychological, or emotional issues that you may have.
Keep in mind that care for the following are available to you during Health Office hours:

  • Vaccines; monitoring and administering
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Blood sugar monitoring
  • Ausculating chests
  • Eye / ear testing and examinations
  • Temperature, pulse, respirations
  • Liaison with doctors & pharmacies
  • Assistance with documentation – i.e. Veteran’s Affairs, Provincial Government, Benefit Programs, etc.
  • Assistance with investigating/arranging additional-needs programs – i.e. Para-Professional Services, Home Care Services, in-house blood tests, etc.

The Health Office is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Our Administrator oversees and ensures training for all staff and team members.

All of our staff is fully trained in CPR and using an automated external defibrillation (AED) device. An AED and general first aid is kept in a central location outside of the Health Office.

Our community is also within close proximity to the well-regarded medical care at our Valley Regional Hospital, together with fire, police and rescue services.

The friendly team at Lawton's Drugs in Kentville, will arrange prescription deliveries right to your apartment door.
